Yoga cramps:

What causes them and what to do about them?

Shavasana is coming, but not quite yet. After 90 minutes of a delightful, sweaty practice, you just have a couple of more pose to do, starting with headstand. You position your head between your hands, walk you feet towards you, heels lift while your toes press into the floor ready to lift up with straight legs. With the feet plantarflexed your legs are about to rise…but, instead you collapse to the floor, grab your calf, cry, “Ow, ow, owowowow…”, while vigorously massaging your rock hard muscle. Your teacher walks over and in his Australian accent says, “ouch, a corky!” The student beside you from England calls it a “chopper”. “Charlie Horse!” suggests someone from across the room. Whatever it is called, all you know is that your calf muscle has cramped and it is damn painful.

Meditation Revealed

The 40-hour live course is now available online
with Bernie Clark and Nathalie Keiller

We are happy to announce that Meditation Revealed will be offered live, online from June 13-19, 2022

This course will examine what meditation is, why we do it and how to do it, from a variety of viewpoints: From Eastern Yogic and Buddhist views to Western Philosophy and Psychotherapy. The course will include training in Deep Meditation to give the student an experiential basis for the practice of meditation. This course will be a balance of theory and praxis but the course will also delve deeply into the context of both yoga and meditation and will show how this has evolved over the millennia. Understanding the historical context of these practices will help you adopt and adapt meditation to what you need for our modern times.
